Megan Fox 'swallowed pride' for TMNT role

Megan Fox won her role in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot after "swallowing her pride" and apologising to Michael Bay, it has been claimed.

The actress appeared in the first two of the director's Transformers movies, but made some unfortunate remarks while promoting Revenge of the Fallen in 2009. She likened Michael to "Hitler" and said he was a "nightmare" to work for.

Megan was replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in 2011's Transformers: Dark of Moon so many in the industry were shocked when it was confirmed she had joined his latest cast.

It's now been suggested it was the actress who built bridges with Michael, after deciding she had to get her career on track.

"It was Megan that made the first move to talk with Michael," an insider told RadarOnline.

"She swallowed her pride, picked up the phone and spoke with him to clear the air and apologise. She told him how thankful she was to have been casted by him in the first place, and that she was totally out of line to say what she said."

The 26-year-old actress apparently admitted that she now understands why the director works his stars so hard. Megan knows that is how he gets people to commit to his pictures.

"Michael said he had a role she would be perfect for and was willing to forgive and forget the incident because hes a big fan of hers," the source explained.

Michael confirmed Megan's casting last week via his website, saying he was delighted to be bringing the brunette star "back into the family".

Megan will play April O'Neil, a human friend of the superhero turtles. The film is slated for release in 2014.
