Hollywood beauty Megan Fox has vowed to tone down her outspoken views in the future after admitting her past comments have "got me into trouble".

The Transformers actress famously likened the film's director Michael Bay to Adolf Hitler in 2009 after working with him on the first two blockbuster movies, and was subsequently replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the series' third instalment last year.

Fox admits she regrets some of her more controversial comments and is now learning not to be so vocal during interviews.

She tells Britain's The Sun, "I've paid the price for being very open about my feelings... I'm a passionate individual and sometimes when I have strong feelings about a subject I feel the need to express myself.

"But I've learned that it's better to hold back a bit, that the world doesn't necessary need or want to know what I think about some matters. I still believe in being very honest and speaking my mind. I think that's a good quality even if sometimes it has gotten me into trouble."

Fox also says The Dictator has reignited her love of acting.

The Transformers beauty has made a name for herself playing sultry sirens or mean girls in films such as Jennifer's Body and How to Lose Friends & Alienate People.

She is set to appear in Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie playing a tyrant's prostitute, and she relished the chance to show off her comedic talents and change film fans' opinions of her.

She tells Britain's The Sun, "When I first started acting I was always playing the b**chy or mean girl, then I was playing these cool, robotic women.

"I was growing tired of playing those kinds of characters and reinforcing this stereotype of me and having to play up to that when I was doing interviews.

"Now I feel I can be myself again. It's given me the chance to get away from that sexy, icy image that I've been stuck with. I think the publi! c can re late to me more easily in these kinds of movies."

She reveals working on The Dictator has also made her eager to sign up for more funny films.

Fox adds, "I'm discovering that I enjoy the atmosphere of being part of those kinds of films. Doing comedies has been a great change of pace for me and I'm interested to see how audiences react to seeing me in these kinds of films.

"I'm really enjoying my work again and I feel a lot of good things are happening to me."
