Megan Fox or Lindsay Lohan - Who Would Make the Better Liz Taylor?

Actress Elizabeth Taylor was remembered fondly in a private ceremony on October 16, 2011.

Actors and actresses have to get to used to one thing very quickly: competition. For every role there are thousands of people clamoring to be cast, feverish for the next big role that could catapult their career into the stratosphere. Biopics, movies about famous people, have become more and more popular with films like "Walk the Line" and "Ray" garnering Oscars and critical acclaim. One such highly-anticipated biopic is getting some heat as there appears to be at least two big name actresses vying for its coveted lead role: that of Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor.

Industry buzz last week put career-rebound hopeful Lindsay Lohan in discussions to play Liz in the upcoming film. Now there's word of a new name surfacing in talks to play the star of "Cleopatra" in a film about her life. "Transformers" star Megan Fox is throwing her hat into the ring as well, according to some reports. The film will air on the Lifetime television network and has a title of "Liz and Dick," apparently chronicling the romance between Taylor and actor Richard Burton.

So who's better for the role, Megan or Lindsay?

The Case for Megan - Fox and Taylor share first and foremost a similar look. Liz was a brunette wit! h pierci ng eyes, and Megan fits that bill pretty well. It wouldn't be too much a stretch to transform Megan physically into Liz. Both Megan and Liz were in giant blockbuster films at a relatively young age, Fox in "Transformers" and Taylor in "Cleopatra."

The Case for Lindsay - Lindsay Lohan and Liz Taylor both started acting as children, and both are tabloid favorites. Lindsay's personal life has been on display in the press for years now. Liz almost single handedly helped create celebrity gossip as a genre, thanks to her exploits both on and off screen. If anyone gets the pressures of living your life completely in the public eye, it's LiLo

The Case Against Megan - To say that Megan's acting skills are mostly unproven is a bit of an understatement. Known mostly as eye candy who can sometimes deliver lines in a fairly believable way, it would seem an odd choice for someone who is considered one of the best actresses of her generation. This is not to say that Megan doesn't have any talents in front of the lens, but she hasn't quite blown critics away with her chops to say the least.

The Case Against Lindsay - The biggest knock on Lohan at this point is that she's an unknown commodity. She's a long way removed from "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday." At one point she was a young starlet with a big career ahead of her. Now she's become a sort of cautionary tale, but if Robert Downey Jr. can bounce back, anyone can, and maybe playing a legend is just the sort of thing to get Lindsay back on her feet.
